Another activity is being developed at Projeto Quilombo do Carmo, the graffiti workshop led by professional graffiti artist Aline Machado. The participants are between 7 and 12 years old, and they are all very interested in learning more about this type of art that gives life and color to our cities.
Graffiti is a form of artistic expression that began to appear in the 1970s when young people in New York began to leave their marks on the city's walls. These brands have evolved with techniques and designs. This art is widely used as social criticism and also a way of direct intervention in the city, thus democratizing public spaces.
The idea is to involve the workshop participants in the process of elaborating and realizing an urban artistic work that will be part of the environment in which they themselves live, thus leaving their mark and expression.
“The coolest thing about this is working together, from studying the basic concepts of graffiti, its history, to drawing up a drawing and going out to carry out the project on the wall. I can see that they are all happy, as they do not miss a class and are developing very well in this process”, says Aline.
